Going to the Ohio Passport Offices
The Ohio Passport Offices will take your passport application and revise it before submitting it to a processing center. You will find Ohio Passport Offices in buildings across the state. The most notable and convenient place to go is the post office. They are also in other sites the county clerkâs office, courthouse, and public library. All of them offer the same application processes at the lowest of prices.
There are two other options to get a passport application process faster than the sites mentioned above. The other two are a regional passport agency and a private expeditor. These choices; however, are the most expensive ways to pay for a passport.
Ohio Post Offices
To get a new passport, start to gather the documents that you must present to the agent. The list will vary because of the processing options available. Below is a list with the general documents you will need:
- Passport Form (DS-11, DS64, or DS-82)
- Supporting Documents
- Proof of Travel
Along with the papers you give, you must have the
fee to cover the application, execution, and service fee (for expedited processing).
At the post office, you have two processing options, routine and expedited. Standard processing takes 4 to 8 weeks and is the cheaper of both. Expedited processing takes 2 to 3 weeks and costs more.
Rush Service
To get a passport sooner than two weeks, seek the service of a
regional passport agency or a private expeditor. Both are authorized to provide a passport if you must travel in a rush. To get approval for this service, you must give some documents to show you need a passport urgently. Here is a list of documents you must submit for approval:
- Passport form (DS-11, DS64, or DS-82)
- Supporting documents
- Proof of travel
- Two letters of authorization (only for an expeditor)
- Company letter (just for a business trip)
- Emergency proof (for an emergency trip)
- Pay cost (passport, execution, and service fees)
Each company has their way of collecting these documents. A regional passport agency requires you to submit them in person. To do so, you must schedule a meeting by calling the toll-free number of the
National Passport Information Center. You will get your interview at the
Philadelphia Passport Center.
The private expeditor does not require you to meet with them unless you choose to. You can submit your documents by overnight mail along with your fees. When the new passport is ready, you can request overnight delivery back to you. You can go into their office if you choose to give your papers.
Regardless of the choice you make, with approval, you will have your travel document to go on your trip.
