Passport Offices Near Georgia

Georgia residences can submit their passport application at any Georgia Passport Offices in the State. The most notable place to go is the post office. Other locations that will accept your documents are the county clerk’s office, courthouse, and public library. All these facilities offer the same two processing options with similar prices. The processing time is between 2 to 8 weeks before you get your new document in the mail. The next option, to get a new passport sooner than two weeks, is to hire a private expeditor or a regional passport agency to apply on your behalf.  You will get it quicker, but the cost will be substantial.

Georgia Post Offices

The post offices have extended hours when compared to the county clerk’s office, courthouse, and public library. So, they get more applicants than the others. At the post office, you can use standard processing or expedited if you need a passport sooner than four weeks. To start the application process, you must gather these documents:
  1. Passport Form (DS-11, DS-64, or DS-82)
  2. Supporting Documents
  3. Travel Proof (only for expedited service)
  4. Passport Fees (application and execution)
Routine processing will take 4 to 8 weeks and expedited will take 2 to 3 weeks. However, expedited processing will cost an additional $60.00 at the post office.

Rush Services

For some applicants who cannot wait two weeks to get a passport, hire a private expeditor or go to a regional passport agency to get one in less than two weeks. But before you use any of these services, you must show the urgency and proof of needing a passport. Here is a list of documents you must provide:
  1. Passport form
  2. Supporting documents
  3. Proof of travel
  4. Two letters of authorization (only for an expeditor)
  5. Company letter (just for a business trip)
  6. Emergency proof (for an emergency trip)
  7. Pay cost (passport, execution, and service fees)
If you choose a regional passport agency, you must submit your papers in person. To do so, you must call the National Passport Information Center to get an appointment. Your interview will be at the Atlanta Passport Agency. The office is in the Federal Building, so be prepared to go through a metal detector. A private expeditor does not require you to have an appointment. You can walk into the office or mail your documents by overnight mail. The choice is yours. When it is available, you can pick it up or have it sent overnight back to you. Either option will get you a new passport very quickly.
