Thankfully, there are multiple ways to check the status of your passport application, whether it’s through a phone call, an email, or online.

If you want to find out the status of your application by calling, you will need to call the Passport Information Call Center. Like most government call lines, this option is not possible on Sunday since the call center is not open.

Check by Email

Checking by email is most likely the easiest way of checking the status of your passport application. To do this, you will need to send an email to the following email with the following information:

  • Email: NPIC@state.gov
  • Last name (with suffixes)
  • Last 4 digits of Social Security Number
  • Birthdate
  • Application number

If you are in a rush and need to know the status of your passport for any reason, doing so online is the way to go. In a matter of minutes, the status of your application will be given to you after you follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Department of State official website (https://www.state.gov/)
  2. Scroll down and click on ‘Contact Us.’
  3. Fill out the application. The application must include:
  1. Last name
  2. Date of birth
  3. Social Security Number
  4. Application Number
