How-To Guide to The Chicago Passport Agency
The Chicago Passport Agency offers an expedited processing service for American citizens who are traveling abroad within two to three weeks, or who are traveling abroad within four weeks and need to submit their passport for an entry visa.
The Chicago Passport Agency will only process applications from people with immediate travel plans. People who are not traveling within two to four weeks should apply by mail, or at a Passport Office or Acceptance Facility. People who have a life or death emergency and require a passport for travel within 72 hours should contact the Passport Services Office directly.
The Chicago Passport Agency is non-jurisdictional and accepts applications from all American citizens regardless of where they reside.
The Chicago Passport Agency does not accept walk-in applicants. People who want to apply at the Chicago Passport Agency are required to schedule an appointment by visiting the Online Passport Appointment System, or by calling the National Passport Information Center.

By car: Parking is available in nearby public garages at 600 South Clark Street or 75 West Harrison Street.
By train: Applicants should take the commuter train or the CTA Blue Line to the LaSalle Street station.

What To Bring
- Appointment confirmation number
- Proof of travel within two to three weeks, or proof of travel within four weeks and proof of entry visa requirements
- Completed forms and supporting documents
- Payment for the expedited application fee. Payment can be made by major credit card, debit card, check, bank draft, cash or money order.
Processing Times
Applicants should arrive no more than 15 minutes before the scheduled appointment time. Applicants arriving more than 15 minutes after the scheduled appointment time will be required to make another appointment.
Passport processing time depends on the nature of your travel plans and the current volume of submissions. Some applicants may receive their new passport on the same day, but the majority of applicants will have to wait two or three days.
