Iowa Passport Office Finder: Finding Iowa Passport Offices Nearby

Getting a passport in Iowa is not as difficult as you may think. Iowa Passport Offices are in many buildings across the state. So, there are many options to go and submit your application. Of all the places, the most common to go is the post office. At the post office, like the other sites, you have two choices to process an application. Also, the cost will vary and based on the decision you make.

Iowa Postal Services

The service at the post office is the same as the other sites. The two options that are available to applicants will help them get a passport. The first of the two will process an application in 4 to 8 weeks. It is known as normal processing. With this service, you will pay less because of the long wait time. However, with the second choice, you will pay more because the processing is shorter than the first. It usually takes 2 to 3 weeks to get a new passport. The second choice is known as expedited processing. You show proof of travel to get approval for the rush service.

Same Day Service

The two choices available at the post office takes from 2 to 8 weeks before you get a new passport. However, if you need a passport in a day or two, two places can help you. The first is a private expeditor. A private expeditor will submit the documents on your behalf. So, to use one, you must apply, supporting documents, proof of travel, two letters of authorization, and a company letter (if your trip is business related).

A regional passport agency requires the same documents except for the authorization letters. Unlike the expeditors, the agency requires you to get an appointment before going. To get an appointment, call the National Passport Information Center hotline. You will get one at the nearest agency which can sometimes be in another state. The nearest one is the Chicago Passport Agency.

The cost for same day service can become substantial because of how soon you will need to travel. So, if you do not need a passport sooner than two weeks, visit your post office and start the process.
